Resurrection Faith
Easter is the most significant event in a Christian’s life, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Easter Sunday stands apart from other Sundays, as church sanctuaries are filled to capacity. The voices of the congregants resonate with vigor and energy. Children wear colorful spring attire while holding their Easter baskets and bunny rabbits, reciting their Easter speeches. The preacher prepares to deliver the Easter sermon on the resurrection, filling the congregation with joy. What happens after Easter Sunday? How do you embody the resurrection in your life?
When we walk in resurrection faith, we live each day believing and acting as if Jesus has risen from the grave. It is a journey of faith, not sight. There is no room for doubt, as it embodies an expectant faith. When Jesus and Mary attended the wedding at Cana and the wine ran out, Mary anticipated an overflow. Listen to her as she instructs the wedding party, “Do what he tells you” (John 2:5, NIV). When Lazarus died, Martha exhibited resurrection faith when she told Jesus, “But I know even now God will give you whatever you ask” (John 11:22, NIV).
Resurrection faith empowers, liberates, and is marked by holy boldness. Faith in the resurrection allows us to bear witness to the love of Jesus. It involves not just talking the talk but also walking the walk. It matures through regular prayer, meditation, Bible study, fellowship with other believers, and, most importantly, being an instrument in God’s divine hands.
“In their fright, the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen” (Luke 24:5-6, NIV).
