DR. JUANITA CONE

Juanita Fletcher Cone is dedicated to promoting optimal health through public education. Before retiring in December 2017, she practiced internal medicine for 37 years. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Cone completed her BS and MD degrees from Howard University in Washington, D.C.  She completed internal medicine training at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport Connecticut. Then, she moved back to her hometown where she practiced internal medicine in Jacksonville, Florida for 23 years. 

Cone was ordained an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 2000, she moved to Atlanta where she completed a specialty in preventive medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine. During this time, she completed two years of study at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.

The last 14 years of her medical practice were spent with The Southeast Permanente Medical Group here in Atlanta. During a portion of this time, Cone served as Physical Program Director for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.

In 2018, she authored her first book, Footprints: Faith, Wellness & Forging Ahead Through Life’s Challenges. In addition to writing, she spends her time volunteering as an advocate for children in foster care, working with young adults at a homeless shelter, and maintaining a personal wellness program to nourish her own body, mind, and soul.
